I have a casting I am looking to source that requires substantial heat treatment to achieve the mechanical properties necessary. What specifications can your castings meet?

Peace.

  Low Quantity Casting Challenge
Posted by: shoptech - 09-17-2015, 07:20 PM - Forum: GENERAL CASTING DISCUSSION - Replies (1)

My facility is looking to purchase low quantities of castings because we are a prototype shop but most foundries turn us away because of the low volume. Is this something you could help us with?

Thanks.

  American Made?

Touchy subject for some, but I have to ask this. We have been looking for a casting source for quite some time but we keep running into castings that are made overseas. Call me "old fashioned" but I prefer American ? made parts. Do you make your castings in-house or do they come from somewhere else?

  White Iron - Machining
Posted by: bcast - 09-17-2015, 07:16 PM - Forum: GENERAL CASTING DISCUSSION - Replies (1)

I have another question about White Iron. We have an application where we are experiencing high abrasion but the casting requires a machined surface in certain areas. Is it possible to machine white iron?

Thx

  Cement Mixer - White Iron
Posted by: mikek - 09-17-2015, 07:15 PM - Forum: GENERAL CASTING DISCUSSION - Replies (1)

Our company is looking into manufacturing its own cement mixer and we have heard that white iron is the material to use. Why should we use white iron over steel?

Thanks in advance.

  High Impact Situation - Manganese?
Posted by: foundryman2 - 09-17-2015, 07:13 PM - Forum: GENERAL CASTING DISCUSSION - Replies (1)

I have a high impact situation that I am trying to improve the wear life on our castings. We are currently using a hardened low alloy steel but we are considering manganese. Do you think this would be a good move?
