High Impact Situation - Manganese?
I have a high impact situation that I am trying to improve the wear life on our castings. We are currently using a hardened low alloy steel but we are considering manganese. Do you think this would be a good move?
That is a great question. The work hardening properties of manganese make it effective for high impact abrasion resistance. For example; Crusher mills, digger teeth, high impact wear plate, basically when the impact is too hard for white iron and the abrasion is more than steel can handle.
